The FTC and credit repair scams Fraudulent credit repair companies have long been the target of FTC investigations, culminating most recently in Project Credit Despair which snared 20 credit repair companies in February 2006. The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is responsible for enforcing consumer protection laws in the United States. In its capacity, the FTC & Credit Bureau Experts offers a number of suggestions and warnings to consumers regarding credit repair organizations. Beware of law firm’s that imply you will have a team of attorneys working on your case. Most of these companies will imply that you will have attorneys and paralegals at your disposal working on your case. The fact of the matter is no attorney will ever even see your credit bureaus, not to mention the paralegals are mostly data input personal. They simply input your credit reports into their computer system and then send you a link to client login and you end up doing your own credit report dispute on a very generic level. At Credit Bureau Experts each and every one of our client's credit bureaus are personally reviewed, investigated and then sent out with an individual response derived from your unique situation.Beware of credit repair service’s that have more then one level of service. Consumers are often being misled by companies offering more then one level of service to achieve their credit report repair process. The Federal Trade Commission regulates the time the credit bureau have to respond to any disputed item initiated on your behalf. No matter what service level you pay for it will still be processed in the same amount of time as specified by the (FTC). We work different; at Credit Bureau Experts each and every client enrolled in our program will receive all of the upgrades that our competitors charge extra for at no additional charge. We provide same day service, work with both the creditors and the credit bureaus, and offer Unlimited, Customized Validation Letters Sent Directly to Creditors. Beware of credit repair services that tell you the exact number of items deleted each year.In order for this information to be valuable you will need the full mathematical equation. What was the total amount of items challenged versus the total number of items that were deleted? If a company claims to have deleted 500,000 items this year, that sound great. At the same time if they challenged 2,000,000 items that would only be a success rate of around 25%. These law firms are know as computerized generic dispute mills and the reason they can boast these high numbers of deletions is most of the revenues produced by these companies goes back into advertising to acquire more customers. At credit Bureau Experts we can’t tell you the exact number of deletions we have every year but, we can say on average our past clients have received 3 to 5 deletions a month while participating on our program. Beware of credit repair Law firms that misrepresent their experience in the credit repair field. Claims such as "25 years of experience" can be misleading. That number often represents the combined years of attorney experience, not the actual length of time that the firm has been in the credit report repair industry. By contrast, credit Bureau Experts has been practicing credit report repair since 1998. Beware of credit repair services that request fees in advanceCredit Bureau Experts does not charge you in advance for any of its services. It charges you only after the initial setup, and the work from each month, have been performed. Beware of credit repair services that don't disclose your rights Consumers have the right to attempt credit repair on their own. Credit Bureau Experts offers its affordable professional services to those clients who prefer having thoroughly trained professionals managing their credit disputes and creditor interventions.Beware of credit repair services that advocate "new" identities It is unlawful to create a "new" identity by applying for an Employer Identification Number (EIN) to be used as one's Social Security Number. This is called File segregation and is a serious crime that can result in fines or imprisonment. Beware of credit repair firms that misrepresent their expertise Claims such as "25 years of experience" can be misleading. That number often represents the combined years of attorney experience, not the actual length of time that the firm has been in the credit report repair industry. By contrast, credit Bureau Experts has been practicing credit report repair since 1998. Beware of companies that imply FTC endorsementThe FTC does not endorse any business. If a credit repair organization implies FTC endorsement, you should look into their claims very seriously.
